As the firms’ principal broker, William C.
(Bill) Gresham is very well known and respected in Hawaii as a
businessman and 27 year real estate professional. He has resided in Hawaii for 32 years, the last 30 on Maui.
As past President of the Maui Board of Realtors and Vice-President
of the State Association, he is a highly visible professional in the
industry. A member and director of several boards (both real estate and
non-real estate oriented), his knowledge encompasses a broad base of
social, economic and political strata.
Qualified as an “expert witness” for courtroom analysis and
examination of pertinent facts both material and financial, Mr. Gresham is
called upon for his expertise in relation to the real estate marketplace.
He has served in several firms as project manager/coordinator,
sales manager, and broker-in-charge.
Starting in 1983 he was vice president / broker-in-charge of the
Maui office of Chaney, Brookes & Company, then the largest locally
owned real estate sales and property management company in Hawaii (25th
nationally) before focusing entirely on his own company beginning in 1985.
Bill was born in San Antonio, Texas and as a professed “Army
Brat” finally settled with his family in California.
He graduated in 1969 from San Diego State University in Public
Administration. He
immediately started as a founding manager/owner of the 14 restaurants Red
Baron Steakhouse Chain eventually moving to Hawaii in 1972 after its sale.
Bill became general manager of the Hawaii Chuck’s Cellar Chain
and moved to Maui to start his own restaurant in 1978.
Switching careers shortly thereafter, he has successfully continued
to build on his knowledge, experience, expertise and equity in the real
estate industry.

The Vice President, Jolyn C. Bien, was born in New York City, emigrated with his family from Tianjin, China in 1949 and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has resided the last 30 years on Maui. His association with THE GRESHAM COMPANY, INC. spans 21 years. Jolyn has served as Chief Operations Officer, Chief Financial Officer, controller, project and property management coordinator for several commercial real estate companies. He brings a valuable perspective to the team from a diversified business background that included ownership of his own computer sales, custom home construction and restaurant firms. His wide-ranging talents have also enabled the company to customize in-house marketing services for our clients. After receiving a Biology degree in 1970 from a small California private college in Lake Tahoe he pursued graduate studies at the University of San Francisco. A successful musician’s career sidelined further academics until 1977 when he founded with two partners, Mnemonics Corporation in Cupertino, California, a mainframe computer sales firm and also founded a custom home building firm in Agoura, California. Two years later Mr. Bien sold his interest in his companies and moved to Maui where he opened a restaurant with friend Bill Gresham. Jolyn continued his musical career in the Maui Resorts until joining The Gresham Company, Inc. in 1987 as vice president and COO. From 1992 – 1999 he served through various capacities first as controller, then concurrently COO, IT Manager, and property management chief for Iwado Realty, then Maui’s third largest property management firm administering over 500,000 square feet of commercial assets. He rejoined The Gresham Company, Inc. as full partner in 1999. Jolyn designs and manages several commercial Internet websites including the main listing service for the Commercial Roundtable of Maui www.mauicommercial.com where he has serves as an officer since 1999.
